Privacy policy

Jodi is a dating, relationship and matrimony app operated by Postlister ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who can see it and how you stay in control. It applies to the Jodi Android app and to our website https://jodi.postlister.com.
The short version
- You decide who sees each detail. Every field and photo has its own setting: everyone, your matches, people you approve, people in one mode, or only you. Our servers enforce these settings, so hidden details never reach other people's phones.
- We never sell your data and never give your profile details to advertisers.
- We never create fake activity. Likes, matches and messages always come from real people. Demo profiles we use for testing are always marked "Test".
- Chats do not live forever. Messages, photos and voice notes are deleted for everyone after 30 days, and at once when a chat is closed.
- You can delete everything at any time, in the app or from our data deletion page.
What we collect and why

We do not collect your contacts, call logs, SMS or precise background location.
How matching uses your data
Our matching suggests people based on what you are looking for (mode, age range, distance, who you want to see, dealbreakers and filters), shared interests and how active and responsive people are. It may use details you keep private (for example your preferences) without ever showing them to anyone. A person reviews safety reports; we do not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you automatically.
Safety and moderation
To keep Jodi safe we automatically check new photos for nudity on your device and on our servers, scan messages for scam and abuse patterns, and look at reports from members. Trained moderators review reports and flagged content and may remove content or accounts that break our community guidelines. We may share information with law enforcement when the law requires it or when someone's safety is at risk.
Advertising
Free members may see ads from Google AdMob, including ads clearly marked "Ad". AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and IP address to show and measure ads; where the law requires it we ask for your consent first. We never pass your mode, gender, orientation, religion or any other profile details to ad partners. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Plus members see no ads.
Service providers
We use trusted providers who process data only on our instructions:
- Hosting: Hostinger (our servers and file storage).
- Google: Firebase (sign-in with Google and push notifications), Google Play (app distribution and payments), Google AdMob (ads).
- Razorpay: payments on our website.
- Call relays: when a direct call is blocked, calls may pass through relay servers run by Cloudflare, Metered or ExpressTURN. They see your IP address and encrypted call data, never the content.
- OpenStreetMap: map pictures in the location picker (your device asks for map tiles, which shares your IP address with the tile server).
Some providers may process data outside India. When they do, they protect it with safeguards required by law.
Who can see your information
- Other members see only what your privacy settings allow, in the modes you use.
- People you approve see the details you share with them, for 24 hours, 7 days or until you revoke it.
- Our team sees what it needs to run the service and keep it safe, under strict confidentiality.
- Authorities when the law requires it.
How long we keep data

Your choices and rights
In the app you can change who sees each detail (Profile → Privacy centre), withdraw a sharing approval, mute requests, remove your verification selfie, turn off notifications, snooze your profile and delete your account. You can also ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data by writing to support@postlister.com.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to information about your data, to correction and erasure, to withdraw consent, to nominate someone to act for you, and to grievance redressal. Where the GDPR applies you also have rights to data portability and to object. To complain, contact our grievance officer; you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India or your local data protection authority.
Security
We encrypt sensitive data (date of birth, message text, check-in contacts) at rest, use HTTPS for every connection, keep private photos behind short-lived links, and limit staff access. No system is perfect: please use a strong phone lock and report anything suspicious.
Children
Jodi is only for adults aged 18 and over. We remove accounts of anyone under 18 and report child sexual abuse material to the authorities. Read our child safety standards.
Changes to this policy
We will tell you in the app before important changes take effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
